West Flora and Fauna category
This year, Woodside is the proud sponsor of the 2016 Cossack Art Awards North West Flora and Fauna category and we are pleased to announce this year's winner is local Ngarluma artist Jill Churnside for her vibrant painting titled 'Gardangu Story'.
Woodside's Asset Manager at the Karratha Gas Plant, Steve Trench, presented a very proud Jill with her award at a presentation event held on 23 July in Cossack.
The Awards continue to grow both within the region as the highlight of the cultural calendar but also across Australia as a nationally significant art prize that attracts a high calibre of participation industry-wide.
Set within the historic buildings of a heritage listed ghost town, the Cossack Art Awards attracts thousands of people every year to the small town of Cossack, some 1,600 kilometres north of Perth.
For three weeks across July and August Cossack comes alive with hundreds of vibrant artworks representing the best artistic talent across the Pilbara region and Australia.
The 2016 Cossack Art Awards exhibition is open daily with free admission from 10am to 3pm until 14 August, complemented by a wide range of public program events.
