Woodside Christmas Appeal

Christmas time evokes the spirit of generosity in all of us, when we remember those who are experiencing hardship and may be less fortunate than ourselves. The 2017 Woodside Christmas Appeal was aimed at bringing some joy to families who need it most.

Starick is a not-for-profit organisation which provides support services to women and children experiencing family and domestic violence, including offering transitional houses to 13 families who are ready to 'start over'. Starting over can be extremely difficult at any time, however especially difficult at Christmas time, as families often leave their homes abruptly and carry few of their possessions with little or no money to buy what they need.

Our goal was to bring some joy to the 13 families in transition, to relieve some of the financial stress of Christmas, and to help create new, happy memories in the holiday season.

A total of 21 of Woodside's business areas coordinated donations for 13 Christmas hampers, filled with toys, homewares, gift vouchers, games and treats. The generosity was overwhelming!

Starick expressed sincere gratitude, emphasising their appreciation of all those who contributed and re-iterated the significant impact this would have for the families this Christmas.

In addition, Karratha-based employees supported gift-giving and food hampers for 14 families in Roebourne, utilising the services of Yaandina Family Support. Fourteen individual elders' Christmas wish lists were also filled for elders in the Yaandina Aged Care Facility.
