Barking Gecko wins 2016 Helpmann Award

Congratulations to Barking Gecko Theatre Company who have won Best Children's Presentation for Bambert's Book of Lost Stories at the 2016 Helpmann Awards.

Held in Sydney on 25 July, the Awards recognise artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia's vibrant live performance sectors, including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, cabaret, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre.

Bambert's Book of Lost Stories, which world premiered in Perth in April 2016 and is based on Reinhardt Jung's internationally lauded novel, was nominated for two Helpmann Awards - Best Children's Presentation and Best New Australian Work.

This is the second successive year Barking Gecko has won at the Helpmann's, having received the 2015 award for Best New Australian Work for The Rabbits.
