Congratulations to Woodside partners, Barking Gecko Theatre Company and the Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF) on their nominations for the Helpmann Awards 2015.
The Helpmann Awards recognise distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia's vibrant live performance sectors, including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, cabaret, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre.
Woodside is the Development Partner of Barking Gecko. Its production of The Rabbits, which Premiered at PIAF, has received four nominations, including Best New Australian Work and Best Presentation for Children.
In addition to the nominations of artists and performers involved with PIAF, the Festival was also announced as the winner of Best Special Event for The Incredible and Phenomenal Journey of The Giants to the Streets of Perth, which opened the 2015 PIAF. As PIAF's Indigenous Program Partner, Woodside's support aided the Festival in engaging with Aboriginal artists and elders to help celebrate Noongar culture, including the opening Welcome to Country that was seen by an estimated 400,000. The indigenous creative component of The Giants was also coordinated and delivered by another Woodside partner, Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company.
